Enhancing decision support with location intelligence
Location intelligence is becoming increasingly relied upon across all levels of government to enable enhanced policy, business and service delivery decision making. From managing resources, integrating information and improving information access, government departments are using location intelligence to deliver their services and programs more effectively and economically.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are no longer just being used to visualise information in the form of maps, but increasingly facilitating improved information access and enhanced decision support.
This presentation will explore how location intelligence can provide the platform to assemble and share a range of information and present it in an understandable way that is useful for inter-departmental staff and other stakeholders. Location intelligence solutions based on Web Oriented Architectures offer a whole new way to deliver, build and deploy information both internally and externally.
By having the ability to analyse, model and report on integrated information, location intelligence enables confident decisions to be made based on accurate and complete information. For example, being able to pin-point areas affected by issues and where services need to be delivered can make a big difference, particularly in times of crisis.
This presentation will include case studies from Australian government departments who are using location intelligence to support their responsibilities and maximise the effectiveness and appropriateness of their services and program delivery. The presentation will also discuss how location intelligence trends and GIS architectures will have profound impacts on how government departments will deliver spatial information to internal and external users in the future.
